A Toast to Chopin Vodka: A Conversation with Tad Dorda

At Fran Berger Living, we cherish the extraordinary, and our collaboration with Chopin Vodka embodies this. This partnership goes beyond just sharing a drink—it’s about uniting two worlds of refined taste and quality. Led by visionary  Tad Dorda, Chopin Vodka is synonymous with luxury and craftsmanship, just like our commitment to elegance.

We’re thrilled to share an exclusive Q&A with Tad Dorda, where he reveals his passion for vodka-making, favorite pairings, and Chopin Vodka's legacy. Dive in and discover what makes this partnership truly special.

Q: If you pair Chopin Vodka with a meal, what would be your ideal food pairing and why?

Tad: I love to pair Chopin Family Reserve with oysters or caviar. I typically gravitate to Family Reserve with oysters. To me, oysters are so elegant and delicate. And I feel the same way about Chopin Family Reserve. The potatoes we use are delicate, and from the packaging to the taste of the vodka, it is elegant and sophisticated. To me, nothing seems better than a great oyster and vodka except pairing them with great conversation.

I enjoy pairing Chopin Rye with spicy or Asian food. I find these go well together as the rye stands up to the flavorful and bold ingredients and spices. I think Chopin Rye cuts through those and tends to make eat bite more vibrant and interesting than the last.

Q: I have my go-to list of places where I enjoy Chopin Vodka. Do you have a personal favorite spot, either at home or abroad, where you love to raise a glass?

Tad: There honestly isn’t one place. For the last 30 years I have traveled the world, in some of the most beautiful places and each experience is enjoyable and memorable in its own way.

Right now, I am partial to Chopin Rye drinks made with passion fruit and a Chopin Potato martini always is delicious.

Q: Chopin Vodka is known for being family-owned. What does it mean to you to keep this legacy alive, and how does it influence the way you approach vodka-making?

Tad: I very much look at our business like a family that is passionate about their estate wines. It’s exactly the same way; we both love doing it and it’s a passion for making something from start to finish.

Our legacy will always be about uniqueness in what we make, and how we make it – like Chopin Family Reserve for example.

I am very happy that family members are involved and will continue with it with the same passion as I do. They are very involved and passionate and I hope that dedication continues onward.

Q: With Chopin celebrating its 30th anniversary, what’s been the most rewarding part of seeing the brand evolve over the years?

Tad: It took some time, but I have been watching for 30 years, and people are starting to appreciate vodka. Luxury vodka is now a recognizable category, which Chopin pioneered 30 years ago. People thought we were crazy at the time, but to watch that achievement is very rewarding --  Vodka is no longer vodka is vodka. It is such a pleasure to talk to people who are interested in learning about vodka and how it is made, where it is made, and what it is made from.

Q: Can you tell us how Chopin differs from how the US ATF defines vodka?

Tad: When food and drink are expertly crafted, the creators are proud to share what it is made of or the process they used to make it. The US or world definition has not done justice to this wonderful product that we call vodka. We have so much pride, passion, and dedication for what we make; I hope the definition will continue to change. We know vodka has taste and character. The uniqueness of the ingredients matters, the terroir matters, and the weather matters, too. Just like other spirits, wines or foods – vodka has all of these, including passion.

Q: What inspires you in your work at Chopin?

Tad: Love what I am doing. I like to tell the story of Chopin, it is a beautiful story, a wonderful product, and as I continue to share it with the world people get excited to drink not just vodka but Chopin Vodka.

As a family-owned business, I get to play many roles in the company. One day, I am a farmer, the next a distiller, and the next a global brand ambassador. Every day is different and exciting, fueling my curiosity about new and exciting products.

As we celebrate our collaboration with Chopin Vodka, we invite you to raise a glass and toast to the extraordinary. Discover more about this partnership and explore our curated collection of Chopin-inspired living essentials at Fran Berger Living.

Cheers to celebrating the finer things in life!
